About 4-6 months ago, we were given the green light to meet with an incredible organization that helps the community…. Habitat for Humanity. It has taken us a while to make the connection, but we were able to sit down with them and discuss what we are doing. Many organizations go to Habitat for help, so receiving the go-ahead to talk with them was a huge benefit. After explaining what our organization is doing to provide safe housing for adult women trafficking victims, a barrage of questions followed. At the end of all the questions, we were asked simply what we expected from Habitat. As much as I would love to have the whole house built, right now that cannot be done. We discussed further options that will probably be utilized down the road. For now the important factor is working on the exterior of the home. So we asked about completing the siding and the front porch. They agreed to complete that task.
Initially, Habitat was supposed to start mid to late fall. We tried connecting with them, but to no avail. After seeing the proper people at a fundraising event this past Friday, we found out that they are “absolutely still interested in the project” and due to some budget issues, we, along with other projects, have been moved to spring. They also mentioned that they are very excited to be working on the project with us. So are we!!! So even though we were not able to announce them, we can now say with all confidence…. THANK YOU HABITAT for helping us build a safe place for victims of trafficking to become survivors!
So we are excited to be working side by side with Habitat for Humanity! So Habitat for Humanity and BRANCH will ask, “How can you help build?”
