Circle of Influence
I was sitting here playing catch up on a few things after basically napping my evening away from a day of recycling exhaustion. And I was reading something that I journaled that struck me.
Back when we were doing some remodeling, my contractor at the time (not Frank) had to have back surgery in the midst of our job. Again more drastic changes I could not handle at that time LOL
Well God had something different in mind. Our contractor gave us another GC that was going to keep our job moving along while the original guy was recouping and such. Mike came into the picture.
When Mike was working on our job, he stated something about he had to go to Home Depot to pick up supplies. I asked him not to spend money on my jobs at Home Depot because of their commitment and money poured into the homosexual lifestyle. I told him I didn’t care if he had to go elsewhere and pay more, but I would not be investing in Home Depot. He said, “What????!!!!” Well, I proceeded to pull documentation, evidence of everything that Home Depot does and handed it to him the next day.
When we had our follow-up talk, he said he went home and talked to his wife about it. He said they prayed over it and he knew that he could not support a business like this. He had to draw his line in the sand and proceeded to give me his reasoning, which was right on. He asked me, “Do you KNOW how much I spend at Home Depot annually?” I shot out a number like a hundred and fifty thousand. He said not even in the ballpark. He says try like over a half a million dollars. My jaw hit the floor.
So as he was working on our remodeling, covering for the other guy, we talked through the course of this time. He literally went to Lowe’s, filled out an application. Got his business credit through there. Then went to all his crew (and there are quite a few) and asked them for all their Home Depot credit cards. He said he’s never seen a look of shock and fear because they all thought they were getting fired. He told them why he was doing it and asked them to do the same. He kept telling me how I did not realize what a huge change over and problem this was. But he could not continue on the path he was at knowing full well what Home Depot does. He even wrote a letter to their headquarters. I was a bit floored!
After that he got his test about his choices and he began really struggling. My original contractor came back on the job and I never heard from Mike but heard about him through my original contractor. I just knew that he had been struggling, but any time you choose Godly principles, be prepared to have those choices challenged and your world rocked.
Now what is so amazing about this story? Mike is now working on the house for BRANCH with Frank. I do not find that any coincidence. We never know I guess just how much our crazy lifestyle is going to affect someone else. But principles do mean something and its time we start implementing them in our lives. It truly could be a game changer for someone!!
